After a two-year hiatus, the Celebration of Philippine Culture festival is back in person!

Are you ready for a day full of dancing and singing, children’s activities, displays of traditional Filipino culture and, of course, tons of delicious Filipino food?

Taking place next weekend on Saturday June 11 and 12 in Victoria’s Centenntial Square, the Phillipine Bayanihan Community Center is bringing back the Mabuhay Festival for its fifth year – and best of all, it’s completely free!

“This year, it’s Mabuhay! Celebrating Filipino culture is special in so many ways. First, the event is now a two-day event that commemorates the declaration of June as Filipino Heritage Month in Canada as well as Philippine Independence Day celebrated every June 12 in the Philippines,” a spokesperson said. of the event. .

“Secondly, 2021 marked the 20th anniversary of the Bayanihan Community Center, a milestone that deserves recognition but has not been properly celebrated due to the pandemic. This year would be his 21st birthday, and celebrations, though delayed, are in order. »

This year’s Mabuhay event is anchored on the theme, “Getting Out of the Pandemic: A Celebration of Unity, Cooperation and Resilience”.

Attendees will be able to enjoy the smell of good food, the colorful banderitas, the distinct clothing and ornaments, and the contagious laughter of the Filipino community.

Throughout the day, attendees can shop for Filipino food, and the multicultural bazaar will also feature non-food vendors. There will be arts, crafts and other items for sale.

The two-day event will be filled with a variety of food, games and entertainment.
