Beginning of the snow sports and culture festival in Gabin Jabba

MINGORA: The snow sports and culture festival kicked off on Sunday at scenic Gabin Jabba in the Swat Valley.

The three-day festival was due to start on February 25 but was delayed due to heavy rain and snowfall in the area. The festival would feature winter sports, especially ski competitions, archery, food in addition to music performances to showcase regional culture.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Riaz Ali Khan inaugurated the festival. District administration officials, including regional sports official Kashif Ali, players and tourists were present on the occasion.

The festival also features stalls of a variety of handicrafts including a variety of foods, while every evening the festival would end with musical night performances and colorful programs to showcase the regional culture. Special arrangements have been made for families and children of the festival in which a playground has also been set up for children.

A large number of tourists flocked to Gabin Jabba to enjoy snow sports as well as serene destinations in Malakand division. RSO Kashif Ali said that among others, judo, wushu, skiing, TeQ ball, table tennis, badminton, weightlifting, mass wrestling and archery, the stands of food, traditional stalls, food courts, children’s games, ice village, Khattak dance and rabab were also part of the gala.
