Cambodia to host 2021 Asia-Europe Cultural Festival ahead of ASEM13

Cambodia will host the Asia-Europe Cultural Festival (ASEMfest) 2021, one of the side events of the 13th Asia-Europe Summit, from Nov. 22 to 26, 2021, a senior official from the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts said.

The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts has already organized an internal meeting headed by the Secretary of State Ms. Pen Mony Makara at the end of last month to follow the progress of the preparation of the organization of ASEMfest.

Kim Pinun, Undersecretary of the Ministry, informed that most member countries have confirmed their participation.

These are the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Japan, Russia, Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, Spain, etc.

The ministry is awaiting more confirmation and will convene a meeting with the Asia-Europe Foundation on September 10 to finalize the list of participants, he said.

ASEMfest, he added, will take place before the 13th Asia-Europe Summit and will end on the last day of the summit.

This international cultural event will be organized mainly with the use of online platforms with the main activities such as performing arts, and the screening of feature films and documentaries, except for the exhibition which would be held in hybrid in the National Museum of Cambodia.

ASEMfest is organized to promote a basic understanding of the views and values ​​of member countries in order to enhance cooperation and development between the two continents. Heng Panha – AKP
