Gurugram University students attack youths at cultural festival

Gurugram, April 11 (PTI) A group of students from a private university here assaulted a youth who entered the campus to attend a cultural event, police said on Monday.

The alleged incident happened on April 9 and an FIR was registered against some students at the Sohna City police station the following day, they said.

Police said they were investigating the matter and had searched for CCTV footage from the university.

According to a complaint filed by Sohna Ward 15 resident Vanshaj Jindal, he went with his friend Harsh Grover to watch a cultural show at the university on April 9.

While he was watching the broadcast, Manoj, a resident of Saanp ki Nangli village and Vicky Khatana, a resident of Damdama village came to see him and “they asked how I got into college.”

“They then started abusing me and took me outside the pizzeria on the university campus, where 15 to 20 of their friends joined them and started beating me. One of them broke a bottle for me glass on my head. I sounded the alarm. The accused fled. after threatening to kill me,” Vanshaj alleged in his complaint.

He said he was rushed to hospital after the attack.
