The Rockhampton Culture Festival on Saturday 18 September offers excellent entertainment for festival-goers, with two flagship acts to entertain audiences on the main stage along with a range of other performers.
The main opening act is Wilma La. Artist in every sense, Wilma La brings flavors from Europe and the Middle East into her rich piano and brass-based vocal and vocal soundscapes, and counteracts it with stripped acoustic rooms. She will perform a live adaptation of her album Baby Fibonacci, which was released earlier this year. The album is a celebration of motherhood and love for the ocean, with stories echoing minimalism, eco-consciousness and the joy of the everyday little moment. Wilma will perform at 4:30 p.m. on the main stage of the Cultural Festival.
The final title act is Joe Tee and the Afrodisa group. Led by Ghanaian singer Joe Tee, the band is one of Queensland’s most sought-after combos, playing reggae, calypso and African sounds, mixed with soul and R&B. Joe Tee and Afrodisa wowed audiences across Australia with their lively and highly dancing stage shows. See them on the main stage of the Rockhampton Cultural Festival at 7:50 p.m.
The cultural festival also features local artists including Darumbal Dancers, Sabaya Belly Dance, Cynic Tailor, Indian Dance Group, Joel Diya & Band, CQ Filipino Association, Tu Te Awaroa Choir and more.
Rockhampton Regional Council Communities and Heritage portfolio spokesperson Cr Drew Wickerson said it was great to see community groups and individuals showcase their own cultures in the entertainment planned for the event .
“I encourage people to bring their entire families to come and immerse themselves in the Festival’s vibrant culture, diverse entertainment and activities, and then stay for a delicious dinner at the International Food Court,” said Cr Wickerson .
The Rockhampton Cultural Festival will be held at Rockhampton Heritage Village on Saturday September 18th from 4pm to 9pm. Admission is $ 2 per person with children 5 and under free. A licensed bar will operate.
