SAN DIEGO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2021

We look forward to celebrating the 20th anniversary of the San Diego International Film Festival with a hybrid of virtual and in-person screenings and events. While feature films, documentaries and short films will be available on demand in the Festival’s Virtual Village, we are excited to announce events and in-person screenings at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park, at the Catamaran Resort in Mission Bay and the USS Midway!

San Diego International Film Festival 2021 schedule:

15 – 24 OCT
● Virtual Film Festival – Feature films, documentaries and short films will be available on demand in the festival’s virtual village, along with pre-recorded Q&A with a variety of filmmakers. Celebrate the 20th anniversary with an evening of screening in the comfort of your own home!

THURSDAY OCT 14
● Opening Night Film & Reception @ Balboa Park, Museum of Photographic Arts – Time: 5:30 p.m. (Pre-reception), 7:00 p.m. (Broadcast) | The San Diego International Film Festival kicks off the year on a high note! Film buffs, filmmakers, patrons, elected officials, executives and professionals will all come together to celebrate cinema at the Balboa Park Museum of Photographic Arts. Guests will enjoy a pre-screening cocktail at Lily Pond, followed by a preview of the film and a Q&A with the filmmaker.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 15
● Screenings at the film festival @ Balboa Park, Museum of Photographic Arts – Time: All day | In the iconic MOPA theater, moviegoers will enjoy a full day of film screenings, including studio premieres and independent feature films, documentaries and short films.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 17
● Screenings at the film festival @ San Diego Museum of Art – Duration: all day | Join us at the San Diego Museum of Art for film screenings and Q&A with filmmakers from around the world, then end the day exploring the museum.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18
● Screenings at the film festival @ Catamaran Resort – Duration: all day | Day 2 at the Catamaran Resort. Film buffs will enjoy 2 full days of film screenings in the Kon Tiki and Aviary screening rooms, including studio premieres and independent feature films, documentaries and short films. In between movie screenings, guests can visit the festival lounge overlooking beautiful Mission Bay for snacks, cocktails, and conversations with other moviegoers.

● Culinary Cinema – Time: 11:30 am | Culinary cinema is a recipe for fun on Sundays and a dream come true for foodies! The ingredients begin with a cooking-themed film. Then everyone goes to the lawn of the Catamaran Resort. Overlooking Mission Bay, attendees can sample dishes inspired by six renowned chefs. Add some good wines and a good conversation and you have a perfect Sunday afternoon.

● Movies on the Bay @ Catamaran Resort – Time: 6.30pm | 2nd Night Films on the Bay at the magnificent Catamaran Resort.

SATURDAY 23 OCTOBER
● San Diego International Film Festival on Midway – Time: TBD | The San Diego Intl Film Festival will share the limelight with RTAG, a veteran-run organization that helps veterans find employment. Join us for a pre-screening cocktail followed by a preview screening of a powerful military film and a panel discussion with filmmakers.
