The Asean International Films Festival & Awards will take place in Kuching in April

The Asean International Films Festival and Awards (AIFFA) is back. The first film festival is scheduled to return April 25-27 at the Pullman Hotel, Kuching.

The next three-day event organized by World Communication Network Resources Sdn (Bhd) will include activities such as film screenings, a film marathon and a concert.

The event will end with its final activity, the Final Gala Nite where the best ASEAN films are recognized. The following feature films are judged by an ASEAN jury and 12 award categories are up for grabs.

Since its inception in 2013, AIFFA has celebrated feature films directed by filmmakers from the ASEAN region. The film event takes place every two years and has received the blessing of the ASEAN Secretariat, claiming that it is one of the joint activities of ASEAN.

120 feature films were submitted for the upcoming event. In the pass, countries like the Philippines and Indonesia have taken the lead in the nominations. In fact, Indonesia submitted 10 feature films in 2017 and managed to win the award for best screenplay for his film “Ziarah” (a work by BW director Purba Negara) and the special jury award for his performance. main actress, Mbah Ponco Sutiyem (95 years old).
