The Buxton International Festival announces its 2022 slate

The Buxton International Festival in the UK has announced its 2022 roster, featuring five operas, an oratorio, a musical, a brand new jazz program, a book program and a classical music series.

Here’s a look at the opera and vocal performances:


Adrian Kelly conducts the Northern Chamber Orchestra in a production by Rossini’s Jacopo SpireiLa donna del lago. “

Performance dates: July 8 – 22, 2022

Iwan Davies directs the production of Donizetti’s Stephen MedcalfLong live the Diva. “

Performance dates: July 10 – 23, 2022

Jonathan Dove and Alisdair Middleton’s opera “Mansfield ParkWill also be presented. Middleton’s libretto is based on the famous novel “Mansfield Park” by Jane Austen.

Performance dates: July 12 – 21, 2022

The next step will be that of Hasse and Ricciardi.Antonio and Cleopatra”In a new production.

Tom Coult and Alice Birch “Purple”Will get a performance.

Performance dates: July 18, 2022


Oratorio by Kate Whitley and Laura Attridge ”Our future in your handsWill be directed by Tom Newall and directed by Mark Burns. The oratorio will feature the Youth Choir and the Northern Chamber Orchestra, and is a production of the Buxton International Festival in association with the Royal Overseas League.

Performance dates: July 10 – 17, 2022


“by Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim”Gypsy: a musical fableWill be directed by Paul Kerryson and is a production of the Buxton Opera and the Buxton International Festival.

Performance dates: July 7 – 24, 2022

The Buxton International Festival runs July 7-24, 2022, and distributions will be announced a month later.
