The Ganga Jamuna cultural festival will start on October 1
Commemorating the centenary of the birth of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence, the Ganga Jamuna cultural festival is scheduled to begin on October 1.
The 9th edition of the 12-day festival was dedicated to the Father of the Nation. To announce the details of the festival, a press conference was held today at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA).
The program was chaired by council moderator, author Golam Kuddus, while subcommittee moderator, playwright Mir Zahid Hasan delivered the keynote address.
Festival secretary Aktaruzzaman, along with Ahmed Giyas, Khorshedul Alam and Manzarul Islam Sweet, among others, also spoke at the event.
More than 3,500 artists from 140 important and promising cultural groups will perform at the event. The cultural festival will feature plays, street performances, mime, poetry recitals and dance routines, among many other cultural acts. Alongside the theaters, performances on open stages are also organized.
The grand opening of the festival would be inaugurated by legendary music composer and freedom fighter Shujeyo Sham.
The Minister of State for Cultural Affairs, KM Khalid MP will attend the program as the main guest. Thespian Ramendu Majumdar, prominent actor and former Minister of Culture Asaduzzaman Noor, MP Manchasarathi Ataur Rahman, prominent cultural personality and artist Mamunur Rashid, theater character Nasir Uddin Yousuff and BSA general manager Liaquat Ali Lucky will be also present, among many others.
The opening speech will be delivered by Festival Secretary Aktaruzzaman, and the program will be chaired by Council Chairman Golam Kuddus.
