Warsaw International Film Festival unveils competition lineup, including seven world premieres | New

Seven world premieres will be screened in the 15-title international competition of the Warsaw International Film Festival, which will take place from 8 to 17 October as a physical event in the Polish capital.
They include Russian co-directors Dmitry Davydov and the seven-part anthology by Stepan Burnashev. Yt on the complexity of relationships between families, neighbors, relatives and friends, and the dark comedy of veteran Lithuanian filmmaker Algimantas Puipa Cinephilia unmasking the illusion of the film with an ironic gaze.
Ukrainian director Taras Tomenko will be in Warsaw to present his latest film House “Slovo”. Unfinished novel about a generation of Ukrainian artists persecuted by the totalitarian system against the backdrop of the Holodomor genocide, while Polish director Lech Majewski will premiere Brigitte Bardot forever, which is based on his novel “Pilgrimage to the tomb of Brigitte Bardot the marvelous” where he settles his accounts with his youth, his childhood and all that Poland meant to him.
Bujar Alimani’s Albanian virgin, is a love story in a difficult context.
Meanwhile, the two world premieres from Asia for the 37e edition are the contemporary Chinese comedy by Jiachen Jiang No problem and the contemplative film by Japanese filmmaker Masakazu Kaneko Wandering ring.
The competition also includes the international premieres of Turkish director Tayfun Pirselimoglu’s film Kerr based on his novel of the same name, the directorial debut by German filmmaker Florian Dietrich, which is a comedy titled Toubab, and the second feature film by Danish writer-director Daniel Dencik Miss Osaka, a genre tale that takes place between Scandinavia and Japan.
Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov Rhinoceros – which premiered in Venice earlier this month – is also screened in the Warsaw competition. This will likely be one of the highlights of the festival, as the film’s Polish co-producer, Dariusz Jablonski, was one of the leading figures in the international film industry campaigning for Sentsov’s release from prison in Russia.
The jury for the international competition is made up of festival directors Sitora Alieva from Russia and Igor Soukmanov from Belarus, and German producer Peter Rommel,
This year’s program will open with Natasha Merkulova and Aleksey Chupov’s Captain Volkonogov escaped from Russia and close to the Bulgarian director duo Vesela Kazakova and Mina Mileva Women cry.
